Acute Care, Dizziness, Vestibular Rehabilitation
Dizziness is a common patient complaint complicating acute care rehabilitation services, with multiple contributing etiologies. Often therapists feel at a loss in how to help patients with vestibular-related complaints. This virtual presentation is designed to equip the acute care therapist with the knowledge and confidence to perform a basic vestibular assessment, identify appropriate interventions, and convey indicated referrals for discharge. Participants will learn to differentiate between central and peripheral causes of vestibular dysfunction, as well as screen for potential contributors from cardiovascular function and medications. Evidence from recent research will inform best practices utilizing screening tools to assist with providing patients appropriate care. Information shared is designed to be utilized immediately and add to efficiency within the complex and demanding setting of acute care therapy.Expand summary
